Salemtowne believes that residents can enhance and maintain their quality of life by participating in fitness programs. A routine of regular physical activity can help to maintain or partly restore strength, balance, flexibility and endurance - four areas that are important for staying healthy and independent. Increasing strength and endurance make it easier to climb stairs and carry groceries. Improving balance helps to prevent falls. Being more flexible may speed recovery from injuries. Residents at all stages of life participate in a range of health promotion activities. The fitness staff coordinates programs focusing on fitness, prevention, and nutrition.
