Salemtowne believes that residents can enhance and maintain their quality of life by participating in fitness programs. A routine of regular physical activity can help to maintain or partly restore strength, balance, flexibility and endurance - four areas that are important for staying healthy and independent. Increasing strength and endurance make it easier to climb stairs and carry groceries. Improving balance helps to prevent falls. Being more flexible may speed recovery from injuries. Residents at all stages of life participate in a range of health promotion activities. The fitness staff coordinates programs focusing on fitness, prevention, and nutrition.

Our comprehensive fitness center offers:

  • Indoor heated pool (50' x 24') plus locker rooms
  • Whirlpool
  • Rooms for strength training, cardio exercises, and functional fitness classes
  • Balance, BodyFit, Yoga, Tai Chi and StrengthFit classes
  • Aquatics classes for all ability levels

Salemtowne also maintains a relationship with The J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging at Wake Forest Baptist Health for the latest research studies and nutritional and health education.
