In mid-2017, Salemtowne Retirement Community plans to open a new, state-of-the-art 120-bed healthcare facility on our Babcock campus.

This new multi-level facility will be the location for three particular and distinct healthcare services Salemtowne will provide for its Residents and the larger community.  Sixty of the 120 beds will offer long-term skilled nursing services, like we currently provide in the Phillips Healthcare Center.  Forty beds will be dedicated to a new opportunity—short-term rehab services.  The remaining 20 beds will provide memory care services in an assisted living level of care.  Salemtowne currently provides memory care services in a skilled nursing setting.

The long-term skilled nursing beds and the memory care assisted living beds will reside in a new environment for Salemtowne—known as household or neighborhood models of care.  These beds will be divided into households of 20 beds each.

Pending final Board of Trustees approval, we plan to begin construction on the Babcock campus in the summer of 2015.  The new construction will take between 18-24 months to complete.  Once the new healthcare communities are built, Salemtowne will renovate the Phillips Healthcare Center into a new 46-bed assisted living community.  This community should be open in mid-2018.
