Resident Financial Assistance

Our Top Priority

Since 1972, when Salemtowne first opened its doors, support from friends like you have enabled us to continue the mission our founders started so long ago - to provide a community where older adults receive care, security, and comfort in a Christian environment.

Through generous and sustaining gifts, we can and will keep this dream alive. With your support, we are able to ensure that high quality care and service are always the foundation of our ministry to each and every resident. Enhancing and preserving this legacy is paramount.

Entering now into our fifth decade of caring service, Salemtowne has provided financial assistance for residents who have gracefully and humbly outlived their resources. In the last few years, this support has been in excess of $1 million on an annual basis. Since our inception, over $25 million has been provided to those who needed financial support.

Including Salemtowne in Your Will

A Will Bequest is the most popular form of a planned, estate, or transformational gift to one's beloved charity. It is also one of the easiest gifts to establish.

Bequests may be in the form of cash, securities, real estate, or other property. You can specify that Salemtowne Retirement Community is to receive a certain percentage or amount of your estate; in the whole, in part, or the remainder of your estate after providing for heirs.

We encourage you to share your final will provision with us to ensure that your wishes will be properly followed and recognized. To discuss making a will bequest or for assistance in drafting language, please  contact our Director of Development.

The following includes examples of suggested will bequest wording to fulfill your wishes by benefiting Salemtowne Retirement Community and its residents.

Bequest - For Unrestricted Purposes

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to Moravian Home Incorporated, dba Salemtowne Retirement Community, a not-for-profit organization located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, _____ percent (%) or _____ amount ($) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate as an unrestricted gift to be used in the area of greatest need at the time the gift is received, as determined by the Board of Trustees of Salemtowne.

I may choose at a later date to enter into a separate agreement between myself and Salemtowne related to the use of this gift and would request that the Board of Trustees of Salemtowne utilize the gift in accordance with the terms of that agreement.

Bequest - For a Specific Purpose

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to Moravian Home Incorporated, dba Salemtowne Retirement Community, a not-for-profit organization located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, _____ percent (%) or _____ amount ($) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to establish the _________________________ Endowment Fund. The principal of this Fund shall be invested as part of Salemtowne's permanent endowment and in accordance with its policies. The income therefrom is to be used by Salemtowne, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for __________________________________ (describe Fund's specific purpose. For example, Resident Financial Assistance). Contributions may be added to the Fund at any time.

If changed circumstances should at some future time make it impractical to continue using the income from the Fund for the purpose designated, then the Salemtowne Board of Trustees may redesignate the purpose for which the Fund's income may be distributed, provided that the Fund shall continue to bear the name ________________ Endowment Fund, and that the amended terms shall adhere as closely as possible to my original intent.

The Jon Hus Society

Salemtowne acknowledges in a variety of ways the partnership of financial and sustaining support from our friends and advocates.

One such way is lifting up the members of The Jon Hus Society, which is composed of individuals who have chosen to include Salemtowne in their estate plans through a variety of means: wills, charitable trusts, gift annuities, life insurance, or other estate gifts, or for those who have established a permanent/endowed and named fund at Salemtowne with a minimum contribution of $25,000.

We are honored by their advocacy and humbled by their stewardship of our residents and this community!

Because of your support and friends like you, Salemtowne will remain focused in its mission and vision to serve our residents and the larger community.  We will be vigilant in our fiscal resposibility and stewardship.  We will remain open to the possibilities of tomorrow and confident in our ability and your support to succeed.

You enable Salemtowne to live into a Community, indeed, Where Every Life Shines!  And we are indelibly grateful to you.
